Jet Stream Cuisine | Kansas City, MO Part-Time Variable Schedule $18-$20/hour Jet Stream Cuisine is a growing aviation catering company providing elevated catering, aircraft provisioning, and hospitality services for private, corporate, and commercial aviation throughout the Kansas City area. We are looking for a dependable, organized, and energetic Flex Kitchen & Catering Assistant to join our team. This is a unique position that combines culinary prep, catering assembly, provisioning, shopping, and aircraft delivery . Our schedule revolves around aircraft departures rather than traditional restaurant hours. Some weeks may be quiet, while others are extremely busy. Many catering orders arrive within 24 hours of departure—and sometimes only a few hours beforehand. We're looking for someone who enjoys variety, works efficiently, pays attention to details, and appreciates a flexible work schedule.
HOW THE POSITION WORKS
Part-time, variable-hour position Weekly hours fluctuate based on catering volume Employees provide their availability in advance Shifts are offered as catering orders are received Many shifts are offered with 4-24 hours' notice 3-hour minimum pay when called in for a scheduled shift Additional hours may be available during high-volume weeks No guaranteed number of weekly hours This can be an excellent position for a culinary student, experienced prep cook, catering or hospitality professional, semi-retired worker, or someone looking for flexible supplemental income.
COMPENSATION
$18-$20/hour , depending on experience. Additional compensation may be available for extremely short-notice or rush calls.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
This is a highly varied, hands-on role supporting our culinary and aviation catering operation.
Responsibilities include:
Basic food preparation and ingredient prep Washing and cutting fruits and vegetables Preparing fruit, crudité, cheese, and other platters Assisting with salads, sandwiches, breakfast items, snacks, and cold catering Portioning food into individual aircraft servings Assembling passenger and crew meals Preparing catering boxes, platters, and aircraft provisions Packaging orders according to aircraft requirements Preparing labels and verifying order quantities Organizing disposable serviceware, condiments, beverages, and provisions Assisting chefs during larger production days Maintaining clean and organized workstations Washing dishes and maintaining kitchen sanitation Restocking packaging and kitchen supplies Assisting with inventory counts Shopping for groceries, beverages, supplies, and client-requested products Sourcing specialty provisions from local stores and vendors Picking up food, beverages, wine/beer when applicable, supplies, and other aircraft provisions Preparing orders for delivery Delivering catering and provisions to Kansas City-area airports, FBOs, hangars, and aviation clients You may spend one shift preparing fruit and charcuterie, packaging meals, and labeling orders—and another shopping for specialty provisions before delivering a completed catering order directly to an aircraft facility. Variety is a major part of this position.

Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license are required due to shopping, provision sourcing, pickups, and aircraft/FBO deliveries.

Private aviation catering is about much more than preparing food. A single aircraft order can involve meals, beverages, snacks, specialty grocery items, passenger preferences, crew provisions, serviceware, packaging, and precise delivery instructions.
