Primary Responsibilities Wash hands properly and follow all food-safety and sanitation procedures. Arrive on time, in clean uniform, and ready to work. Wear gloves, hair restraints, and other required protective equipment. Prepare side dishes, vegetables, sauces, drinks, desserts, and other menu items. Portion food according to restaurant serving standards. Assemble customer orders accurately and efficiently. Verify that every order includes the correct food, sides, sauces, utensils, and drinks. Keep raw and cooked foods separated to prevent cross-contamination. Monitor and record food temperatures when required. Label, date, rotate, and properly store food using the FIFO method. Keep hot foods hot and cold foods cold. Clean and sanitize counters, tables, utensils, equipment, and food-preparation areas. Wash dishes and safely return clean items to their proper locations. Sweep, mop, empty trash, and help maintain a clean dining and kitchen area. Restock food containers, napkins, utensils, cups, sauces, and other supplies. Notify management when food or supplies are running low. Provide polite and professional customer service. Follow instructions from managers, cooks, and shift leaders. Report spills, damaged equipment, contamination, illness, injuries, or unsafe conditions immediately. Assist with opening and closing duties. Follow all Smoke It Out BBQ policies and applicable health-department requirements. Perform other reasonable restaurant duties assigned by management. Physical Requirements The employee must be able to: Stand and walk for extended periods. Bend, reach, lift, and carry restaurant supplies. Safely lift up to 40 pounds. Work around heat, smoke, cold-storage areas, and cleaning products. Maintain a steady work place during busy service periods. Performance Expectations The food handler is expected to demonstrate reliability, cleanliness, teamwork, honesty, good communication, attention to detail, and respect for customers and coworkers.
