Applicant must be highly qualified which requires one of the following and a complete application on file to be eligible for the position: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. High School or GED Minimum of 1 year experience working in food service. First Aid/CPR Certified or willing to obtain within the first 30 days of employment is required . Food Handlers Card or willing to obtain it within 30 days . Civil Rights Certified or willing to obtain within the first 30 days of employment is required . Valid Driver's License for operation of a school vehicle. Fingerprint Background Check prior to employment Bilingual ability (Spanish/English) is preferred
JOB SUMMARY
To prepare, serve and provide balanced, healthy, nutritional breakfast, lunch, supper, Fresh Fruit and Vegetable, After School Snack meals to students enrolled at all district school sites and prepare and serve summer meals to the community during off season months/breaks. Ensuring compliance with federal and state regulation from the United States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Child Nutrition Program, New Mexico Public Education Department Student Succes and Wellness Bureau, Southwest Training Systems, and New Mexico Environment Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain effective working relationship with team members, students, staff. Follow NMED and
USDA HACCP
Dress Code. Prepare/Serve breakfast, lunch, supper, FFVP, ASSP and summer meals. Follow USDA school menus. Prepare meals for students with special dietary needs per special menu. Load and unload satellite truck - summer months. Fuel delivery truck - summer months. Unload and put away food deliveries from vendors following FIFO regulations. Clean steamtable and surrendering kitchen equipment. Perform one or several food service operations including but not limited too general kitchen help, cooking, cafeteria serving, assisting in food preparation, cleaning, and other related duties per the rotation schedule. Maintain personal hygiene and hygienic serving conditions in accordance with the New Mexico environmental code. Operates a variety of food preparation and service equipment. Sets up & breaks down steam tables, serving lines after meal servers. Performs daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment to ensure cleanliness and sanitary conditions are met. Maintains order and safety in the kitchen and serving line area. Wash dishes and trays, general and deep cleaning, sweep, and mop food service areas. Complete and maintains records such as temperature logs, student meal counts, and inventory. Oversees students assisting with serving food on the service line. Do daily laundry. Operate food delivery vehicles during school year and summer lunch program; may need to pick up and load the truck for deliveries. Comply with USDA, PED, NMED and district regulations and policies. Comply with USDA HACCP and E-learning training. Performs other duties as assigned and which are deemed necessary or desirable by the program required.
KNOWLEDGE OF
Safe driving principles and practices District geography and locations of food serving sites. Principles and procedures related to school food safety . Knowledgeable of food service equipment use. Knowledgeable of basics food service operations. Department and district operations and policies. Interpersonal skills. Department satellite delivery schedule .
ABILITY TO
Safely drive and operate a food delivery vehicle. Work in a friendly manner and establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, team members and the community . with team members, students, and staff . Perform jobs and communicate in a noisy environment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to read and complete USDA food service documents . Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students, staff, team members and the community.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
