Job Description
Overview:
To assist in all food service related tasks for the preparation and serving of breakfast, lunch and snack for Finn Academy scholars, and in support of food service and preparation for special events and activities, as assigned and determined by the Food Service Director and Finn Academy Leadership team. As Food Service Assistant, the expectations are that our staff members are dedicated, hardworking and can be good team players and take direction to achieve daily and weekly tasks. Essential Functions- Serve meals using standards to maintain sanitation and quality
- Accurately record meals served and monitor temperatures of food
- Clean all food service areas using appropriate procedures
- Deliver meals to classrooms efficiently and timely
- Use Point of Sale system to record meals served
- Wash dishes and/or utensils according to acceptable standards of practice
- Understand recipes, understand daily instruction
- Efficient and capable knife skills
- Have good dexterity for scooping, ladling, portioning small items into bags, cups with lids, assembling sandwiches, etc.
- Other duties as assigned Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- The ability to read, write, and perform basic math
- The ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Lifting heavy boxes up to 60 pounds
- Ability to work Monday through Friday (time to be determined) Education/Experience High school diploma required Food service experience preferred Skills/Abilities Ability to build rapport with children, colleagues, and community Articulate, confident, warm professional demeanor
