Dining Assistant (Back Waiter) Position Summary The Dining Assistant plays an essential role in delivering an exceptional dining experience by supporting Servers and maintaining an organized, polished dining room. This position ensures tables are impeccably maintained, guests' needs are anticipated, and service flows seamlessly from arrival to departure. A successful Server Assistant is attentive, proactive, and takes pride in every detail, helping create the elevated yet approachable hospitality that defines Dear Dad . Essential Responsibilities Guest Experience Greet and acknowledge guests warmly while supporting the service team. Anticipate guest needs by monitoring tables throughout the dining experience. Refill water, clear plates, refresh utensils, and maintain table presentation. Respond promptly to guest requests and communicate needs to the Server when appropriate. Help create a welcoming and seamless dining experience. Dining Room Support Assist Servers with food delivery and table maintenance. Clear and reset tables according to Dear Dad service standards. Maintain clean, polished, and properly stocked service stations. Polish silverware, glassware, and other service items. Replenish linens, china, glassware, and service supplies throughout the shift. Assist with bread, butter, and other table accompaniments as directed by service standards. Operations Complete opening, running, and closing side work. Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the dining room and service areas. Follow all sanitation, food safety, and workplace safety procedures. Communicate maintenance concerns or supply shortages to leadership. Teamwork Work closely with Servers, Food Runners, Hosts, Bartenders, and Kitchen staff to ensure smooth service. Support teammates during periods of high volume. Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency while maintaining attention to detail. Participate in ongoing training and service education. QualificationsRequired Strong work ethic with a positive, team-oriented attitude. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Professional appearance and demeanor. Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Preferred Previous restaurant or hospitality experience. Experience in an upscale casual or fine dining environment. Knowledge of basic dining room etiquette and service standards. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Frequently lift and carry trays weighing up to 40 pounds. Frequently bend, reach, and move throughout the dining room. Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
