Café Ruby Mae is a welcoming café located inside Rockland Psychiatric Center in Orangeburg, New York. We proudly serve employees, visitors, contractors, and guests by providing fresh food, beverages, and exceptional customer service in a clean, friendly, and professional environment. We are currently seeking a dependable, customer-focused team member to serve as the primary Front-of-House Associate. This individual will play an important role in creating a positive experience for our guests while helping maintain the daily operations of the café. Position Summary The Café Attendant & Guest Services Associate is responsible for providing outstanding customer service while supporting the daily operations of Café Ruby Mae. This position serves as the primary front-of-house team member and is responsible for greeting guests, operating the cash register, maintaining café cleanliness, restocking inventory, and ensuring an exceptional guest experience. Café Ruby Mae is located inside Rockland Psychiatric Center, a New York State-operated mental health facility. Applicants must be comfortable working within a professional healthcare-campus environment and interacting with employees, visitors, contractors, and guests in a professional and respectful manner. The ideal candidate is friendly, reliable, organized, and capable of working independently. This position is located within the Rockland Psychiatric Center campus. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of all pre-employment requirements and clearances required by the facility and applicable law. Additional information regarding required clearances will be provided to candidates during the hiring process. Responsibilities Guest Service & Sales Greet customers with a warm and welcoming attitude Provide excellent customer service at all times Operate the Point-of-Sale (POS) system Process cash, credit card, and mobile payments accurately Answer customer questions regarding menu items and café offerings Maintain a positive and professional atmosphere Inventory & Stocking Monitor inventory levels throughout the day Restock beverages, snacks, grab-and-go items, condiments, and supplies Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries Notify management when products or supplies are running low Cleaning & Organization Clean and sanitize tables, counters, and guest seating areas Maintain cleanliness of the dining room and service areas Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures Assist with opening and closing cleaning tasks Keep displays and service areas neat and organized Operational Support Support daily café operations as needed Report maintenance concerns or equipment issues Follow all facility and café policies and procedures Work independently while maintaining productivity and professionalism Qualifications Required Must be at least 18 years of age High School Diploma or GED Ability to pass fingerprinting and background screening requirements Reliable transportation Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds Strong customer service and communication skills Dependable and punctual Preferred Previous café, restaurant, food service, retail, or hospitality experience Experience operating a cash register or POS system Food handling or food service experience Experience working independently Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who is: Friendly and outgoing Professional and dependable Self-motivated and proactive Organized and detail-oriented Comfortable working independently Able to multitask in a fast-paced environment Passionate about serving others Benefits At Café Ruby Mae, we value our team members and are committed to providing a supportive work environment.
