About the Role We're hiring a Food Preparation/Cook to support high-quality meal service for patients, café guests, and special events in a healthcare setting. This role plays a vital part in daily food production, short-order cooking, and maintaining food safety standards. Ideal candidates bring hands-on kitchen experience, strong teamwork, and pride in service excellence within hospital food services. What You'll Do Food Preparation & Cooking Prepare ingredients and cook menu items for patient meals, café service, and special functions Execute short-order grill and deli station cooking with speed, accuracy, and consistency Bake and plate desserts, salads, sides, soups, and entrée items using standardized recipes Monitor food quality and safety through proper tasting, temperature checks, and handling Customer Service & Meal Service Deliver friendly, responsive service to patients, visitors, and café patrons Take orders at counters or by phone and prepare items to order Present portions attractively with garnishes, sauces, and appropriate plating Food Safety, Quality & Compliance Follow Ohio Department of Health Uniform Food Code and HACCP guidelines Record and monitor food and equipment temperatures accurately Rotate stock, check expiration dates, and maintain clean, organized prep areas Kitchen Operations & Sanitation Wash dishes, pots, pans, trays, and utensils by hand and machine Complete daily and deep-cleaning tasks for kitchen and dish areas Assist with inventory counts and requisitions for coolers, freezers, and dry storage Our Culture & Values We're guided by Integrity, Ownership, Compassion, and Respect—working as one team to serve our community with professionalism and care. Work Environment This is a 100% onsite position at a hospital kitchen and café in Port Clinton, Ohio. The role involves standing for extended periods and working in hot, cold, and fast-paced environments.
