Description

GENERAL SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Food Services Manager, the Food Service Worker performs a variety of duties directly related to the set-up, service, breakdown, and clean-up resulting from the provision of food service to patients, clients, residents, employees and guests of Allied Services. Assigned duties are implemented in a manner appropriate to the age-specific needs of the patients served.

EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent experience preferred.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Institutional or commercial food service experience preferred.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF JOB

Works on patient tray line. Assembles trays of prepared foods, consisting of both general and therapeutic diets, for distribution. Returns tray carts to dish room at designated times for washing. Racks and washes soiled dishes and utensils in automatic dishwasher. Strips and stacks soiled dishes and trays in dish room for washing. Delivers and stores clean dishes to proper storage location. Maintains work area in a clean, neat, orderly manner. Completes sanitation responsibilities as assigned. Washes certain items by hand, such as pots and pans. Operations the cash register in employee cafeteria during meal and break times including related cleaning and re-stocking duties. Sweeps and mops floors throughout the kitchen as well as refrigeration units. Turns on and operates equipment as necessary. Removes trash from the kitchen area and accurately sorts recyclables. Assembles and distributes patient nourishment items for afternoon or H.S. snacks. Receives deliveries of food and supplies, places in appropriate location to ensure proper storage and rotation.

SPECIAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

Must be cleared by PA State Police criminal history check. Good verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills required for effective interaction with staff and visitors. Must be able to read. Ability to perform mathematical functions (simple calculations, conversions) required. Additional Information
