Job Description

THE POSITION

As a Food Service Worker 1 with the Department of Human Services, you will be part of a team that keeps Torrance State Hospital moving forward. This role allows you to take pride in the daily work that supports patients and staff. Your efforts will help ensure enjoyable, nutritious meals are prepared and delivered on time. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Food Service Workers support the daily operations of the dietary department to ensure accurate and timely meal preparation and delivery. This role involves a wide range of tasks that keep kitchen and meal services running smoothly. As a Food Service Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:

Tray Line Support:

Assist with meal tray line setup and work assigned positions

Equipment Operation:

Operate and maintain dish machines, tray washers, and other kitchen equipment

Sanitation Tasks:

Complete cleaning duties, including floors, machines, counters, and utensils

Food Preparation:

Portion food items, grill simple foods, and prepare salads, sandwiches, and vegetables

Stock Management:

Unload, store, and rotate food and supplies in designated areas

Delivery Work:

Deliver meal trays and nourishments, and make scheduled pick-ups Interested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 40 hours per week Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with a 30-minute lunch. You will have rotating days off and work the 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM shift as needed.

Telework:

You will not have the option to telework in this position.
