Job Summary Falls Overlook Cafe is seeking an organized, hands-on Assistant Cafe & Event Manager to support our General Manager in the day-to-day running of the cafe and in the planning, setup, and execution of events. You'll be the right hand to the GM—keeping daily operations running smoothly while leading event logistics from prep through breakdown. This is a great fit for someone who thrives in a fast-paced food service environment, enjoys both front-of-house leadership and behind-the-scenes coordination, and wants to grow into a leadership role. Key Responsibilities Cafe Operations Support the GM in overseeing daily cafe operations, including opening/closing, staff supervision, and customer service. Assist with staff scheduling, training, and coaching to maintain a high level of service. Manage inventory, place supplier orders, and monitor stock to prevent shortages or overstock. Handle POS transactions, daily sales reporting, and shift logs that capture sales, labor, and any operational issues. Ensure the cafe is clean, well-presented, and compliant with health and safety standards. Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally, leading by example on the floor. Event Planning & Execution Assist the GM in planning and coordinating events, including private bookings, catering, and on-site functions. Coordinate event logistics—setup, layout, décor, equipment, and staffing—to create the right atmosphere for each event. Work with clients to understand their vision, menu needs, and budget, and help shape proposals and packages. Prepare and follow event orders (BEOs) to ensure every detail is delivered on event day. Supervise event setup, food and beverage service, and breakdown, ensuring quality and timing. Build and maintain relationships with vendors and coordinate deliveries and rentals. Support budgeting, invoicing, and post-event evaluations to track success and improve future events. Team Support & Administration Step in for the GM as needed, running shifts and making day-to-day decisions. Communicate clearly across the cafe, culinary, and event teams to keep everyone aligned. Help with marketing and promotion of events, specials, and seasonal offerings. Contribute to menu and event ideas based on customer feedback and sales data. Qualifications 1-3 years of experience in cafe, restaurant, catering, or event management (or a similar hospitality role). Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with attention to detail. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Basic proficiency with POS systems and scheduling/inventory tools. Ability to lift and move event equipment and stand for extended periods. Food safety certification (or willingness to obtain) is preferred. Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and event days as needed. What We Offer Competitive pay based on experience.
