Job Description

Job Overview The Congregation of Divine Providence is seeking a dependable and service-oriented Part-Time Food Service Worker to support meal service at the Moye Retreat Center in Castroville, Texas . The Food Service Worker assists with the preparation, service, and cleanup of meals for retreat guests and staff. This position plays an important role in creating a welcoming and hospitable dining environment by helping ensure meals are served on time, kitchen and dining areas are clean and organized, and food safety and sanitation standards are followed. This position works primarily Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, approximately 28-30 hours per week . Because of Moye Retreat Center's location and weekend schedule, reliable transportation to and from the Castroville location is required . Responsibilities Assist with basic food preparation, including salads, beverages, breakfast items, desserts, and other assigned menu items. Set up serving lines, dining tables, buffet areas, beverages, condiments, and other meal-service items. Assist with serving meals to retreat groups in a courteous and timely manner. Clear dining areas and complete cleanup following meals. Wash and properly store dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment. Clean and sanitize kitchen, dining, food-service, storage, and work areas. Stock serving stations, refrigerators, pantry areas, beverages, and supplies as needed. Assist with receiving, rotating, dating, labeling, and organizing food and supply deliveries. Follow proper food safety, sanitation, handwashing, temperature-control, and cross-contamination prevention procedures. Assist with approved dietary needs and retreat-group meal requirements as directed. Maintain a welcoming, respectful, and service-oriented approach with retreatants, guests, Sisters, coworkers, vendors, and visitors. Communicate promptly with the supervisor regarding shortages, equipment concerns, food-safety issues, scheduling concerns, or other operational needs. Maintain regular and reliable attendance and report to the Moye Retreat Center as scheduled. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous food service, dietary, restaurant, institutional kitchen, or hospitality experience is preferred but not required. Ability to follow directions and established procedures with attention to detail. Basic knowledge of food handling, sanitation, and kitchen safety practices, or willingness to learn. Dependable, professional, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong interpersonal skills and a welcoming, service-oriented attitude. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, retreatants, and guests. Reliable transportation to and from Moye Retreat Center in Castroville is required. Food Handler certification required; certification may be obtained upon hire within the timeframe established by the Congregation. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift, carry, push, or move items weighing up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Frequent bending, reaching, grasping, and use of hands for food preparation, dishwashing, cleaning, and stocking. Ability to work safely around typical commercial kitchen conditions, including heat, steam, wet surfaces, cleaning products, and kitchen equipment. Pay:
$15.00 per hour Expected hours: 28.0 - 30.0 per week
