Job Description

Intrinsic Foundation is hiring seasonal Food Service Workers to support meal preparation and service for the Summer Food Service Program. This is a temporary, hands-on food service position focused on preparing, portioning, packing, and organizing meals for children at approved meal sites. The work is fast-paced and requires dependability, attention to detail, safe food handling, and the ability to follow instructions. This is not a restaurant or customer-facing dining position. The role supports production, packaging, cleanliness, and meal service compliance. Duties and Responsibilities Prepare, portion, and pack meals according to daily menu instructions Assemble unitized meals in trays, bags, or other approved packaging Follow portion control requirements for each meal component Assist with sealing, labeling, counting, and organizing meals for delivery or service Maintain clean and sanitary work areas, equipment, utensils, and storage areas Follow food safety procedures, including handwashing, glove use, temperature control, and proper food handling Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food and supplies Support meal counts, packing sheets, temperature logs, and other basic documentation as directed Report shortages, damaged products, food quality concerns, or safety issues to a supervisor Help with setup, cleanup, dishwashing, trash removal, and general kitchen duties Work as part of a team to complete meals accurately and on time Qualifications Previous food service, cafeteria, catering, kitchen, or meal production experience preferred Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Reliable attendance and punctuality are required Ability to work quickly while maintaining accuracy Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices Ability to work well with others in a production-based environment Must be able to stand for extended periods of time Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull food, trays, boxes, and supplies as needed Food handler certification preferred, or willingness to obtain if required Must maintain a professional and respectful attitude while working around staff, children, and program partners Schedule This is a seasonal position during the summer meal program. Work hours may vary based on meal counts, production needs, delivery schedules, and program operating days. Early morning or daytime shift availability preferred. Work Environment This position is performed in a kitchen, food production, or meal service setting. The work may include standing for long periods, repetitive tasks, working near hot or cold food, and meeting daily production deadlines.
Pay:
$15.00 - $18.50 per hour
