The Funky Door is where Lubbock goes to escape the ordinary — date nights, celebrations, post-concert dinners, long lunches, and late nights, all backed by an award-winning wine list and a chef-driven menu. We're looking for an Assistant General Manager who loves the floor, knows the numbers, and makes both guests and staff feel like regulars. What you'll be doing Running the floor during service: touching tables, coaching servers and bartenders, and solving problems before guests notice them Hiring, training, scheduling, and developing front-of-house staff Supporting the GM on labor, inventory, ordering, cash handling, and daily reporting Helping run wine dinners, private events, and happy hour promotions Upholding TABC compliance, safety, and service standards Stepping in as manager-on-duty whenever the GM is off What we're looking for 2+ years of restaurant management experience (fine dining or upscale casual preferred) Genuine wine and cocktail knowledge — or the enthusiasm to learn fast Hospitality instincts: warm, unflappable, and quick on your feet Comfortable with POS systems, scheduling tools, and basic P&L TABC and food manager certifications (or ability to obtain them) Evening, weekend, and late-night availability Why lead here Competitive salary, open to negotiation based on experience, plus bonus opportunity Health benefits and paid time off Dining and wine privileges A clear path to General Manager An independent restaurant where your ideas actually get used Come help us keep Lubbock funky.
