We are seeking a reliable, team-oriented Cafeteria Assistant to support our Head Kitchen Manager in preparing and serving nutritious meals and snacks to children birth through age 5. In this role, you will help prepare daily meals, portion food according to USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines, manage food allergy safety, and keep our kitchen clean and compliant with health department standards.
Assist in chopping, prepping, and portioning breakfast, lunch, and snacks according to strict CACFP age-specific meal patterns and allergy plans.
Meal Distribution:
Package and deliver food carts to infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms on schedule.
Sanitation & Dishwashing:
Wash dishes, pots, and utensils; sanitize prep tables and equipment; maintain clean floors and food storage areas.
Food Safety & Logs:
Monitor and log daily food and refrigerator temperatures; ensure proper labeling and stock rotation (FIFO).
Inventory:
Help unload, inspect, and organize weekly food deliveries. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED preferred. Previous commercial kitchen, cafeteria, or early childhood food service experience required (CACFP experience is a big plus!). ServSafe Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire). Ability to pass all state/federal background checks and fingerprinting. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods (6-8 hours). Detail-oriented regarding sanitation, food safety, and child allergen controls.
Pay:
$15.00 - $20.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
