Responsible for ensuring the meat cases are well-stocked with fresh, high-quality meat, fish, seafood and poultry products for our customers. Receive product, stock, cut, grind, wrap, weigh, price, and attractively merchandise meat department products. Ensure proper product rotation to maximize product freshness and availability, while minimizing waste. Assist customers with special requests and answer questions about our meat products and services. Meat Cutter I's work with equipment like band saws, grinders, wrapping machines, and knives. They have the knowledge and ability to open and close the department in the absence of the Team Leader.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Adhere to all local, state and federal health and civil code regulations. Maintain department sanitation standards including cleaning and sanitation of equipment, tools, dishes, meat and fish cases and production and storage areas. Assist in production, preparation, display and proper rotation of Department product line using scales, attractive paper and plastic wrapping of products. Provide superior customer service, assist with special requests, questions, cooking suggestions, etc. Oversee and direct the production, preparation, display and proper rotation of Department Product line as assigned. Cut, portion and grind beef, pork, poultry, as necessary and fillet or steak whole fish as needed. Follow recipes to prepare kitchen ready value added products. Work with and train others to achieve Department objectives as directed. Manage shrink and transfer logs as directed. Open and/or close the Department without supervision. Assist with inventory processes as directed. Work with other Team Members to achieve Team and store goals. Other duties as assigned.
