Job Overview Our small locally owned butcher shop is looking for a Meat Associate to become a vital part of delivering high-quality, fresh meat products to our valued customers. In this energetic role, you will be responsible for expertly handling, preparing, and packaging a variety of meats while ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help create an inviting experience, by promoting food safety practices, and support the overall success of our custom butcher shop. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge in the food industry. Duties Assist customers with checkout and loadout Operate meat processing machines safely and efficiently for slicing, trimming, and portioning meats Prepare meat products according to established recipes and quality standards, including butchery and slicing techniques Ensure all food handling procedures adhere strictly to food safety sanitizing protocols and sanitation standards Package meat products attractively while maintaining proper labeling and perishable goods management Conduct visual inspections for quality control, checking for freshness, appearance, and signs of spoilage Maintain cleanliness of workstations, tools, and equipment through regular sanitizing procedures in compliance with food safety management policies Experience Previous food preparation experience required Hands-on experience with meat processing machines, knife skills, and meat cutting techniques required Knowledge of food safety procedures including sanitizing practices and safe handling of perishable goods Culinary or kitchen experience that demonstrates proficiency in food preparation and slicing techniques beneficial Customer service background with the ability to communicate effectively about product features and food handling practices Basic math skills for accurate portioning, weighing, and inventory management Experience in cash handling or working with POS systems is preferred but not mandatory This role is perfect for motivated individuals eager to develop their expertise in meat preparation while providing exceptional service.
