Position Overview Fox's Finest is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Meat Cutter to join our team. The Meat Cutter will be responsible for cutting, trimming, portioning, packaging, and merchandising premium meats while maintaining the highest standards of quality, consistency, cleanliness, and food safety. This is a hands-on position for someone who takes pride in the craft of meat cutting and enjoys working with high-quality products. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable, dependable, efficient, and committed to providing exceptional products and service to our customers. Key Responsibilities Meat Cutting & Preparation Cut, trim, portion, and prepare beef, pork, lamb, poultry, and other meat products Break down larger cuts into retail-ready portions Prepare steaks, chops, roasts, ground meats, and specialty cuts according to store standards Fulfill custom customer orders and special requests Maintain consistent cuts, portion sizes, and product presentation Minimize product waste while maximizing usable product yield Package and label products accurately for retail sale Customer Service Provide friendly, knowledgeable service at the meat counter Assist customers with selecting cuts based on their cooking needs and preferences Answer questions regarding preparation, cooking methods, and product characteristics Prepare custom cuts and orders with attention to detail Contribute to a welcoming, high-touch hospitality experience Meat Case & Merchandising Maintain an attractive, fully stocked, and organized meat case Ensure products are properly labeled and priced Monitor product freshness, appearance, and quality Rotate inventory using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures Assist with inventory counts and communicate product needs to management Food Safety & Sanitation Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures Maintain proper temperature control and safe handling practices Clean and sanitize cutting surfaces, tools, equipment, and work areas Safely operate knives, meat grinders, saws, slicers, and other equipment Follow proper procedures for cleaning and maintaining meat-processing equipment Comply with all applicable health department regulations and company standards Teamwork Work closely with other butchers, meat department employees, and management Support the team during busy periods and assist with other store operations when needed Help train and mentor less-experienced team members when appropriate Maintain a professional, positive, and respectful work environment Qualifications Previous professional meat-cutting or butcher experience preferred Strong knowledge of meat cuts, trimming, portioning, and preparation Proficient knife skills and ability to safely operate meat-processing equipment Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Excellent customer service and communication skills Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices Food Handler Certification, or willingness to obtain one Passion for high-quality meats and the craft of butchery Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Ability to repeatedly bend, reach, lift, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift Ability to safely work with knives, saws, grinders, slicers, and other meat-processing equipment Comfortable working in a refrigerated and cold environment Why Join Fox's Finest?
