Position Purpose The Butcher Block Supervisor is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Butcher Block and Meat Department by ensuring high-quality products, exceptional customer service, food safety compliance, and operational excellence. This position supervises department associates, oversees product merchandising and inventory, and helps drive sales and profitability while maintaining company standards. Key Responsibilities Department Operations Oversee daily operations of the Butcher Block area and ensure department standards are consistently met. Ensure meat cases, displays, and specialty service counters are fully stocked, properly rotated, and attractively merchandised. Monitor product quality, freshness, and presentation to deliver an exceptional customer experience. Assist with ordering, receiving, and inventory management processes. Ensure accurate pricing, signage, and promotional execution throughout the department. Customer Service Deliver outstanding customer service and create a welcoming shopping experience. Assist customers with product selection, meal solutions, cooking recommendations, and special requests. Resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly. Promote department products, featured items, and seasonal offerings. Leadership & Team Development Supervise, train, and coach department associates on operational procedures and customer service expectations. Assign daily work activities and monitor productivity. Support onboarding and ongoing associate development. Foster teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment. Provide feedback to department leadership regarding associate performance and development opportunities. Meat Cutting & Product Preparation Perform and oversee meat cutting, trimming, grinding, wrapping, and packaging procedures as needed. Ensure products meet company standards for quality, weight, labeling, and presentation. Monitor production levels to meet customer demand while minimizing waste. Ensure proper storage and handling of all meat products. Inventory & Financial Performance Support inventory control processes and product ordering. Monitor sales trends and assist in achieving department sales goals. Minimize shrink through proper rotation, handling, storage, and inventory management. Assist with physical inventories and department audits. Food Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations. Maintain proper product temperatures and storage conditions. Ensure all associates follow food handling and safety procedures. Maintain department cleanliness and sanitation standards. Adhere to all workplace safety policies and procedures. Store Operations Support Support overall store objectives and initiatives. Collaborate with other department leaders to ensure operational efficiency. Assist with seasonal events, promotions, and special merchandising initiatives. Serve as a leader on duty when assigned.
