Job Description

Meat Cutter/Butcher - Vermont Hewitt is seeking a reliable and motivated Meat Cutter/Butcher to join our production team in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. General Description and Responsibilities Team members are responsible for working in a safe manner that complies with all HACCP, USDA, and company policies. Responsibilities may include trimming, portioning, grinding, and packaging meat products to company standards. This is a full-time position and while the general schedule is 6:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, this role requires adaptability to address the needs of the company and manage unexpected situations. Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required to meet the demands of the company. Duties include and are not limited to:
Production:
Prepare products for production - unbox, open, etc. Trim products to developed specifications Produce ground meats in accordance with developed specifications Maintain proper documentation for produced items Package meat products in accordance with developed specifications
General:
Maintain a clean and safe working environment Work with other team members to achieve organizational goals Identify out of conformance products and report to Supervisor or Quality Assurance Report any unsafe working conditions to Supervisor or Quality Assurance Completing additional tasks as needed which not described in this task description Experience Basic understanding of food safety systems, can work in a refrigerated environment, able to safely and correctly use a knife for butchering, able to work as a part of a team, desire to learn and grow. Ability to consistently follow up on tasks and follow both written and verbal instructions is required.
