OBON is seeking a talented and experienced Sushi Chef to join our team at our Downtown Phoenix location. If you possess expert skills in sushi preparation, an artistic eye for presentation, and a deep understanding of Japanese flavors, we invite you to showcase your talent in our dynamic kitchen.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and craft a variety of sushi dishes, including rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and specialty creations, using traditional techniques and innovative approaches. Ensure the highest quality and freshness of all sushi ingredients, including fish, seafood, rice, vegetables, and condiments. Demonstrate precision and artistry in sushi preparation and presentation, elevating the visual appeal and taste of each dish. Develop and refine sushi recipes, experimenting with flavors, textures, and unique combinations. Maintain an organized and efficient workstation, following strict food safety and sanitation practices. Collaborate with the culinary team to coordinate orders and ensure smooth operations during high-volume periods. Train and mentor junior sushi kitchen staff, sharing your expertise and fostering a culture of excellence. Stay updated on sushi trends, new ingredients, and techniques, continuously expanding your culinary knowledge.Requirements:
Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role, showcasing expertise in sushi preparation and presentation. Excellent knife skills and the ability to handle fish and seafood with precision. Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices in a kitchen environment. Creativity and innovation in sushi creation, incorporating unique elements to delight guests. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen, managing multiple orders and maintaining quality under pressure. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as per restaurant operations. Dedication to delivering exceptional sushi dining experiences and a passion for culinary excellence. We are not looking for individuals with the most experience, we are looking for individuals who can provide the best service, who have the ability to learn, follow instructions efficiently, and above all, who have the desire to grow and be the best in the industry.
