BASIC FUNCTION
Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Nutrition Services, the Chef Manager is a strategic leadership role within the Burbank Unified School District Nutrition Services Department, responsible for overseeing culinary operations, staff supervision, menu development, and regulatory compliance. This position plays a key role in advancing the department's mission to provide nutritious, culturally diverse meals and its vision to deliver exceptional food service experiences that support student wellness, achievement, and equity. Culinary degree or equivalent professional experience in institutional food service; minimum 3-5 years of supervisory experience in multi-unit food service or culinary operations; strong knowledge of USDA, CDE, HACCP, and NSLP requirements; supervisory experience with batch cooking and large-scale production in a high-volume environment; excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills; ability to work collaboratively across departments and with diverse teams
