We're a lean, creative team, and we're looking for someone to take real ownership of our weekly production and operations. The role This is a hands-on hybrid position that touches every part of the business.
Your week looks like this:
Thursday — Tempeh production Friday — Kraut production Saturday — Packaging Sunday — Farmers market sales Four 8-hour shifts, 32 hours per week. Running through all of it, you'll manage our inventory and support sales and customer service, so you'll be the person who knows what we have, what's moving, and what our customers need. What you'll do Produce tempeh and kraut in our Escondido kitchen following our recipes and food-safety procedures Package finished product for retail, wholesale and distributor orders Represent San Diego Tempeh at the farmers market: set up, sell, sample, and talk with customers Track and manage inventory of ingredients, packaging and finished goods Handle customer questions and support wholesale and direct sales What we're looking for Experience in a commercial kitchen, bakery or food-production setting (this is the most important thing) Genuine curiosity about fermentation — you'll learn the craft from the inside Attention to detail, especially around cleanliness and food safety Comfortable on your feet for a full shift and lifting up to 50 lbs Reliable, self-directed, and happy to wear a few hats in a small business Friendly and confident with customers Food handler's card (or willingness to get one before start) What we offer $22
