Farmhouse at Descanso Gardens, led by acclaimed Chef Rich Mead, offers fresh, seasonal farm-to-table cuisine showcasing California's finest ingredients. About the job The Chef de Cuisine plays a key role in supporting kitchen leadership and delivering high-quality culinary experiences in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. This position contributes to the success of event-day and daily operations by ensuring consistency, efficiency, and excellence across all food service areas. Accountable for managing people, setting direction and deploying resources; typically is responsible for performance evaluation, pay reviews and hire/fire decisions. Results are primarily achieved through the work of others and typically depend on the manager's ability to influence and negotiate with parts of the organization. Progression within Career Band reflects acquisition of broad technical expertise, business and industry knowledge, and process and people leadership capabilities. Accountable for business, functional or operational areas, processes or programs, which may include dotted-line or matrixed management.
Pay Range:
$58735 per year - $76010 per year What's in it for you Support daily kitchen operations to ensure smooth execution of event and non-event food service. Guide and develop culinary team members to maintain consistency and high performance. Ensure food quality, portioning, and presentation meet established standards. Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety requirements. Monitor food and labor costs to support financial goals and operational efficiency. Oversee inventory, equipment upkeep, and kitchen organization. Contribute to menu planning and seasonal offerings to enhance the guest experience. What you'll bring Experience in high-volume kitchen operations with a focus on quality and consistency. Knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen compliance practices. Leadership experience guiding culinary teams in fast-paced environments. Background in sports, entertainment, or premium hospitality environments preferred. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and event-based schedules.Requirements Education Requirement:
