Pastry Chef -
Gjusta Bakery Venice, CA Full-Time Annual Salary Range:
$75,000.00 - $80,000.00 Gjusta is looking for an experienced Pastry Chef to lead our pastry program in Venice! Our food is rooted in thoughtful sourcing, strong technique, seasonality, and a commitment to creating food that feels approachable, craveable, and honest. The Pastry Chef will oversee daily pastry production while helping shape the continued growth and development of the program. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who cares deeply about quality, consistency, ingredients, and developing a strong team. What You'll Do Lead and manage daily pastry production for Gjusta and related programs Maintain exceptional standards for quality, consistency, and presentation Develop seasonal pastries, desserts, and baked goods Lead, train, coach, and develop the pastry team Establish and maintain recipes, production standards, and portion controls Manage ordering, inventory, ingredient sourcing, and waste Monitor food and labor costs while maintaining product quality Plan production and staffing based on daily business needs Work collaboratively with culinary leadership and the broader bakery team Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and efficient working environment Help identify opportunities to improve and grow the pastry program What We're Looking For 5+ years of pastry leadership or related professional experience Advanced professional pastry and baking skills Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and develop a team Excellent organization and time-management skills Ability to work calmly and effectively in a fast-paced environment Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen operations A thoughtful approach to ingredients, seasonality, and minimizing waste Strong communication skills and a collaborative working style Culinary degree preferred, but not required Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed We're looking for someone who is equally excited about craft and leadership —someone who can make beautiful, delicious pastry while building a team and a program that are organized, consistent, and always evolving.
