Position Summary The Sous Chef is a key culinary leader responsible for executing exceptional food while supporting the Executive Chef in all aspects of kitchen operations. This role balances production, event execution, team leadership, food quality, organization, and continuous improvement. This position is required to prep on-site at our Headquarters and cook off-site at our catering events. Evenings and weekend schedule are required. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced catering environment, enjoys mentoring others, embraces seasonal ingredients, and takes pride in delivering restaurant-quality food in unique off-site settings. What You'll Do Culinary Excellence Execute seasonal menus with consistency, creativity, and attention to detail. Lead daily food production while maintaining the highest culinary standards. Ensure recipes, portioning, and presentation meet Anaviv standards. Monitor food quality throughout production and service. Support menu development and recipe testing. Maintain exceptional sanitation and food safety practices. Event Leadership Lead culinary teams during weddings, corporate events, nonprofit galas, private dinners, and special events. Coordinate timing with Event Managers and Front of House teams. Ensure smooth execution during setup, service, and breakdown. Troubleshoot challenges calmly and professionally. Represent Anaviv with professionalism while interacting with clients and venue partners. Team Leadership Supervise cooks, prep cooks, and kitchen assistants. Coach team members through training, mentorship, and constructive feedback. Foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative kitchen culture. Help onboard and develop new culinary staff. Lead by example through professionalism, accountability, and teamwork. Kitchen Operations Assist with production planning and daily prep schedules. Support ordering, inventory management, and receiving. Help manage food cost and minimize waste. Maintain organized workspaces and equipment. Ensure compliance with health department regulations and company policies. Qualifications 3-5+ years of culinary leadership experience Previous Sous Chef experience preferred Catering or high-volume event experience strongly preferred Familiarity with inventory management, cost control, and food safety sanitizing procedures Experience leading kitchen teams Excellent organizational and time management skills ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification (or ability to obtain) Valid California Driver's License preferred Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Schedule includes evenings, weekends, and holidays

$30.00 - $40.00 per hour
