2 hours We are a Bay Area seafood company looking for a reliable Part-Time Sushi Chef / Fish Prep to help prepare fresh seafood for customer orders. This position does not require high-end omakase or advanced sushi bar experience. We are mainly looking for someone who is comfortable handling whole fish and preparing clean, consistent sashimi. Responsibilities Scale and gut whole fish Fillet and prepare whole fish Slice fish for sashimi Portion and place sashimi into containers Assist with seafood packaging, labeling, and customer order preparation Help with other light operational tasks as needed, such as packing orders and organizing supplies Keep the food-preparation and work area clean and sanitary Handle fresh seafood carefully and efficiently Schedule & Compensation Regular work will generally be on Fridays between approximately 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Typical working time is approximately 2-4 hours per shift, depending on order volume.
Pay rate:
$30/hour Minimum paid time: 2 hours After the first 2 hours, additional time is paid in 15-minute increments ($7.50 per 15 minutes) Hours may vary from week to week depending on order volume. Requirements California Food Handler Card Experience handling and preparing whole fish Comfortable scaling, gutting, and filleting fish Able to slice clean and consistent sashimi portions Valid food-handling certification required Reliable and punctual Comfortable helping with packing and other light operational tasks Available on Fridays High-end sushi restaurant or omakase experience is not required. Paid Sashimi Test / Trial Dates Selected applicants may be invited to participate in paid preparation tests before regular Friday work begins.
Current test dates:
Saturday, November 7: approximately 2:00-5:00 PM Friday, November 13: approximately 4:00-8:00 PM The same $30/hour rate and 2-hour minimum will apply.
