Job Description

Works Closely With:
Sous Chef and Leadership Team Hearthstone is seeking an experienced, creative, and highly organized Executive Chef to lead our back-of-house operations. This position is responsible for menu direction, culinary execution, food safety, staffing, training, cost controls, and the overall performance of the kitchen. The Executive Chef will work closely with the Sous Chef and other members of the Leadership Team to uphold Hearthstone's core values: Great Food, Superior Hospitality, Respect for the Individual, and Connection with Our Community. Key Responsibilities Provide creative direction for menus and specials while ensuring consistent execution. Keep menus current, relevant, and true to the Hearthstone brand. Ensure that guest allergies and dietary preferences are handled with diligence, accuracy, and close attention to detail. Make sanitation and safe food handling the kitchen's highest priorities. Maintain current manager-level ServSafe certification in accordance with Colorado requirements. Lead the kitchen team toward established financial and operating goals. Complete and oversee monthly food inventory. Create and manage the back-of-house schedule. Coordinate food purchasing and ordering with the Sous Chef. Recruit and hire employees for all back-of-house positions. Train, or oversee the training of, all back-of-house employees. Maintain back-of-house equipment and collaborate with the team on facility maintenance. Monitor food cost, wine gross profit, labor cost, sales, and controllable profit. Collaborate effectively with the Sous Chef, front-of-house leaders, ownership, and other members of the Leadership Team. Perform other leadership duties necessary to support Hearthstone's standards, values, and business objectives. Qualifications Previous experience as an Executive Chef, Chef de Cuisine, or senior culinary leader in a high-quality restaurant. Demonstrated ability to lead, hire, train, schedule, and develop a back-of-house team. Strong menu-development and culinary-execution skills. Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, allergy protocols, and Colorado regulatory requirements. Experience with inventory, ordering, budgeting, cost controls, and kitchen profitability. Ability to maintain consistent quality in a fast-paced hospitality environment. Strong communication, organization, accountability, and problem-solving skills. Current manager-level ServSafe certification, or the ability to obtain and maintain it. Commitment to Hearthstone's core values and guest experience.
Benefits and Perks Medical insurance:
Hearthstone currently pays 85% of the monthly medical premium for the employee, spouse or partner, and eligible children. Premiums and coverage are subject to annual policy renewal and change.
Dental insurance:
Available at 100% employee cost.
Paid vacation:
Up to 20 paid vacation days annually, subject to Hearthstone's vacation policy. Vacation balances are capped at 20 days.
Paid sick leave:
Accrues at four hours per pay period, up to 48 hours annually. Unused hours carry over, with the total balance capped at 48 hours, consistent with Colorado law.
Paid family and medical leave:
Provided consistent with Colorado's FAMLI program and applicable law.
Retirement plan:
Continued participation in Hearthstone's
SIMPLE IRA
plan, with an employer match of up to 3% of salary.
Ski benefit:
EPIC Local Pass availability, subject to program requirements and continued full-time employment through the ski season. Foundation passes may be used by employees who ski fewer than 10 days per season.
Dining allowance:
$200 per month for dining experiences at Hearthstone. Full-time employment is required for benefit eligibility. Benefit plans, premiums, allowances, eligibility requirements, and related policies may be modified in accordance with plan terms and applicable law. Success in This Role The successful Executive Chef will deliver creative and consistently executed food, maintain rigorous safety and sanitation standards, build a skilled and accountable kitchen team, and achieve established financial targets. This leader will foster a respectful workplace while contributing actively to Hearthstone's hospitality, reputation, and connection with the community.
Pay:
$95,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
