Job Description
Role:
As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality sushi dishes that meet the culinary standards and aesthetic expectations of our establishment. Your role is pivotal in ensuring the freshness, taste, and visual appeal of each dish, contributing directly to customer satisfaction and the restaurant's reputation. You will work closely with the kitchen team to maintain cleanliness, organization, and efficient workflow in the sushi preparation area. This position requires a deep understanding of traditional and contemporary sushi techniques. Ultimately, your expertise will help create an exceptional dining experience that encourages repeat business and positive reviews.Minimum Qualifications:
Proven experience as a sushi chef or in a similar culinary role specializing in Japanese cuisine. Strong knife handling skills and knowledge of sushi preparation techniques. Ability to interpret instructions accurately and follow recipes precisely. Capability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive motions safely and efficiently. Understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working as a head chef or in a leadership role within a kitchen environment. Familiarity with balancing flavors and innovative sushi presentation styles. Knowledge of inventory management and supplier relations.Responsibilities:
Prepare sushi and sashimi dishes according to standardized recipes and customer specifications. Select and handle fresh fish and other ingredients, ensuring quality and safety standards are met. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi preparation station, adhering to health and safety regulations. Collaborate with the head chef and kitchen staff to coordinate food preparation and service timing. Manage inventory of sushi ingredients and communicate supply needs to management. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in sushi preparation techniques and knife handling. Continuously monitor and improve sushi presentation and taste to enhance customer satisfaction.Skills:
