Job Overview Join our vibrant culinary team as a Sushi Chef Assistant, where your enthusiasm for Japanese cuisine and dedication to food excellence will shine! In this energetic role, you will support the sushi chef in preparing authentic sushi dishes, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and ensuring the highest standards of food safety and presentation. Duties Assist the sushi chef in preparing fresh ingredients, including fish, rice, vegetables, and garnishes with precision and care Support in assembling sushi rolls, sashimi, nigiri, and other Japanese delicacies according to established recipes and presentation standards Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all work surfaces, tools, and storage areas in compliance with food safety regulations Handle food with proper hygiene practices during preparation and service to ensure safety and quality Organize ingredients efficiently for quick access during busy service times Assist with inventory management by monitoring stock levels and notifying supervisors of supply needs Support in setting up workstations for meal prep and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly Qualifications Prior experience in a dietary department or dietary aide role is highly desirable, demonstrating familiarity with food handling protocols Experience working in a restaurant or food industry environment, especially with kitchen or culinary tasks Knowledge of menu planning and food preparation techniques specific to Japanese cuisine is a plus Strong knife skills and proficiency in meal preparation are essential for supporting sushi assembly Understanding of food safety standards and proper food handling practices to maintain hygiene excellence Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude towards learning and supporting kitchen staff Embark on an exciting culinary journey with us!
