Executive Chef / Sous Chef Position Summary We are seeking a reliable, motivated, and team-oriented Culinary Banquet Cook to join our culinary team. The Banquet Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting food for weddings, corporate events, social gatherings, and other catered functions. The ideal candidate has experience working in a high-volume kitchen and understands the importance of food quality, consistency, timing, sanitation, and teamwork. This position requires the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced banquet environment while following established recipes, production standards, and event timelines. Essential Responsibilities Prepare and cook menu items for banquet events according to recipes, specifications, and production schedules. Assist with preparation for weddings, corporate events, social events, and other catered functions. Perform food preparation tasks including chopping, portioning, seasoning, cooking, plating, and garnishing. Prepare food in appropriate quantities while maintaining consistent quality and presentation. Follow banquet event orders (BEOs) and production sheets to ensure accurate preparation for each event. Work closely with the Executive Chef, Sous Chef, and culinary team to meet event timelines. Assist with buffet setup, plated meal preparation, stations, and other banquet food service requirements. Maintain proper food handling, storage, labeling, and temperature-control procedures. Follow all health department, food safety, and sanitation standards. Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked workstation throughout the shift. Properly clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, work surfaces, utensils, and food preparation areas. Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food products as needed. Minimize food waste while maintaining proper portion control. Communicate effectively with culinary and banquet service teams regarding food preparation and event needs. Assist with opening and closing kitchen duties. Perform other culinary duties as assigned by the Chef or management. Qualifications Previous experience in a commercial, restaurant, hotel, catering, or banquet kitchen preferred. Experience preparing food for high-volume events is a plus. Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food preparation. Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and production schedules accurately. Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices. Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet strict event deadlines. Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding kitchen duties. Ability to lift and carry food products, equipment, and supplies as required. ServSafe certification or other food safety certification is preferred. Must be dependable, punctual, and willing to work as part of a team. Schedule & Work Environment Banquet operations may require early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the event schedule. Fast-paced, high-volume commercial kitchen environment. Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting. Team-oriented environment with a strong focus on quality, timing, and guest satisfaction.
