Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Japanese Chef / Private Family Chef to prepare fresh, healthy, high-quality meals for our family at our home in Windermere. We are looking for someone with a genuine passion for Japanese cuisine, exceptional ingredients, healthy cooking, and creating food that the entire family genuinely enjoys. This is intended to be a consistent, long-term position. Schedule Monday through Friday — Split Schedule Morning
  • Breakfast prepared and ready by 7:30 AM
  • Prepare a light, healthy lunch for later in the day
  • Protein smoothies, high-protein breakfasts, fruit, eggs, juices and other nutritious options
  • Prepare kid-friendly breakfast and lunch options
  • Complete kitchen cleanup before leaving Evening
  • Return in the afternoon to prepare dinner
  • Dinner prepared and ready by 5:30 PM
  • Complete kitchen cleanup and organization afterward The chef is not expected to remain at the home between the morning and evening meal periods.
Cooking for Our Children An important part of this position is making healthy food exciting for young children. Our children can be selective eaters, so we are looking for a chef who enjoys the challenge of creating meals that are nutritious but also delicious, approachable, colorful and fun to eat. We want someone creative who can:
  • Turn healthy ingredients into foods children actually look forward to eating
  • Make meals visually appealing and fun without relying heavily on sugar or highly processed foods
  • Experiment with different flavors, textures, shapes and presentations
  • Create kid-friendly versions of family meals when appropriate
  • Prepare tasty protein smoothies and other creative ways to incorporate fruits, vegetables and nutritious ingredients
  • Gradually introduce the children to new foods and flavors without making mealtime stressful
  • Learn what each child likes and continually develop new ideas around those preferences The goal isn't simply to prepare separate "kids' food.
" We want to help our children develop a positive relationship with great food and gradually expand what they enjoy eating. Creativity with children's meals will be an important part of evaluating candidates. Dinner Style We have a strong preference for Japanese cuisine and are looking for someone experienced with:
  • Fresh fish and seafood
  • Sushi and sashimi
  • Grilled and seared fish
  • Japanese-style meats and vegetables
  • Rice and noodle dishes
  • Soups and broths
  • Traditional and modern Japanese dishes
  • Healthy international cuisine when requested Our preference is for food that is fresh, clean, nutritious, high in protein and flavorful, using excellent-quality ingredients without making everyday meals unnecessarily complicated. Ideal Candidate
  • Professional Japanese culinary experience
  • Excellent fish and seafood preparation skills
  • Sushi and sashimi experience highly desirable
  • Private-chef, fine-dining or high-end Japanese restaurant experience preferred
  • Creative and patient when cooking for children
  • Comfortable developing nutritious meals for selective young eaters
  • Comfortable preparing healthy, high-protein meals and smoothies
  • Excellent ingredient sourcing and menu-planning skills
  • Extremely clean, organized and reliable
  • Punctual — scheduled meal times are important
  • Professional and discreet in a private-home environment Additional Responsibilities The chef will assist with:
  • Weekly menu planning
  • Grocery lists and ingredient sourcing
  • Planning meals for both adults and children
  • Pantry and kitchen inventory
  • Maintaining an exceptionally clean and organized cooking environment
  • Developing new dishes based on the family's feedback and preferences Compensation $40 per hour Guaranteed minimum of 25 paid hours per week — $1,000/week minimum.
Additional approved hours beyond the guaranteed 25 hours will be paid at the applicable hourly rate. Groceries and approved food-related purchases are separate from compensation. To Apply Please submit your résumé along with a brief introduction describing your:
