The Pastry & Cake Cook/Decorator is responsible for preparing, baking, and decorating a wide range of cakes, pastries, and desserts in the central kitchen. This role ensures all products meet company standards for taste, texture, appearance, and consistency while maintaining efficiency and hygiene in high-volume production.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and bake cakes, pastries, tarts, and desserts following standardized recipes and production plans.
  • Mix batters, doughs, creams, fillings, and icings using professional baking equipment.
  • Decorate cakes and desserts with precision, creativity, and attention to detail (using piping, glazing, chocolate work, fondant, etc.).
  • Ensure consistent product quality, portion control, and presentation across all items.
  • Follow and maintain production schedules to meet daily or weekly order demands.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the pastry work area, tools, and equipment.
  • Assist with inventory control — monitoring ingredient levels and reporting shortages.
  • Maintain strict hygiene, safety, and food handling standards at all times (HACCP compliance).
  • Work closely with the bakery and logistics teams to coordinate production and packaging for delivery.
  • Contribute to new product development and seasonal menu ideas when required.
  • Support training or supervision of junior pastry assistants or decorators.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Proven experience as a pastry cook, cake decorator, or similar role (2+ years preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, cake baking, and decorating skills (fondant, buttercream, ganache, etc.).
  • Ability to work efficiently in a central kitchen or high-volume production environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail, creativity, and artistic presentation.
  • Knowledge of temperature control, ingredient handling, and food safety standards.
  • Strong time management and organizational abilities.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and flexibility for shift work (early mornings, weekends, or holidays if required).
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Capable of lifting up to 25 kg (55 lbs).
  • Comfortable working in warm or humid production areas.
