Sous Chef Lafayette Country Club Lafayette, IN Job Type:
Full-Time Lafayette Country Club is seeking an experienced and motivated Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The Sous Chef is a hands-on leadership position responsible for supporting the Executive Chef with daily kitchen operations, food preparation, staff supervision, sanitation, inventory, and overall food quality. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, team-oriented, and committed to providing an exceptional dining experience for our members and guests. Responsibilities Assist the Executive Chef with daily kitchen operations Supervise and participate in food preparation and service Ensure consistent food quality, presentation, portioning, and execution Assign daily duties and prep responsibilities to culinary staff Ensure established recipes and preparation standards are followed Assist with ordering, receiving, inventory, storage, and product rotation Monitor food costs, waste, portion control, and inventory levels Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen Ensure compliance with food safety and health department requirements Monitor kitchen equipment and communicate maintenance needs Train and supervise cooks, stewards, and other culinary team members Assist with interviewing, hiring, scheduling, coaching, and evaluating staff Assist with menu development, daily specials, and new food concepts Support member dining, banquets, golf events, private events, and other club functions Help maintain departmental food cost and budget goals Promote a professional, positive, and team-focused kitchen environment Follow all workplace safety procedures Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Chef or General Manager Qualifications 2 to 3 years of relevant culinary experience preferred Previous kitchen leadership or supervisory experience preferred Strong knowledge of food preparation, kitchen operations, sanitation, and food safety Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to lead and motivate a culinary team Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment Reliable and dependable attendance Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and club events as needed Food Safety and Sanitation certification preferred About Lafayette Country Club Lafayette Country Club is a private, member-focused country club serving the Greater Lafayette community.
