We are seeking a results-driven, innovative, and passionate Sous Chef to assist the Executive Chef and help lead the culinary operations of a premier upscale New American restaurant in Burlington, Massachusetts. This is an exceptional opportunity for a detail-oriented culinary professional who combines strong leadership and operational discipline with a genuine passion for food, hospitality, and the guest experience. Culinary Leadership Ensure consistent food quality, presentation, flavor, and execution. Oversee daily food preparation, plating, portion control, and service. Assist in leading day-to-day back-of-house operations, including prep, service, closing, and sanitation, in accordance with company standards. Enforce and maintain kitchen procedures, recipes, specifications, and quality standards. Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, and sanitation regulations. Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and efficient kitchen environment. Work closely with the Executive Chef to develop and maintain a high-performing culinary team. Team Management & Leadership Assist with training, scheduling, coaching, and mentoring kitchen staff. Establish clear performance expectations and foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and professionalism. Promote a positive, respectful, and collaborative kitchen culture. Lead by example during both preparation and service. Communicate effectively with culinary and front-of-house management teams. Financial & Inventory Management Assist with managing food costs, labor costs, and kitchen budgets. Manage daily ordering from multiple vendors while ensuring product quality, freshness, and consistency. Monitor inventory levels, product usage, waste, and portion control. Help identify opportunities to improve efficiency and control costs without compromising culinary standards. Maintain clear and consistent communication with the management team. Qualifications Proven experience as a Sous Chef, Kitchen Manager, or comparable culinary leadership role in a high-volume or upscale restaurant. 5+ years of professional kitchen experience, including demonstrated leadership experience. Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. In-depth knowledge of food preparation, food safety, sanitation, and kitchen operations. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining high culinary standards. Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistency. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds. Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
