Join Our Culinary Leadership Team by the Sea! We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and driven Executive Sous Chef to join our culinary leadership team. Position Summary The Executive Sous Chef is a key member of the culinary leadership team and serves as the second-in-command to the Executive Chef. This hands-on leadership position is responsible for overseeing daily kitchen operations across multiple outlets, ensuring exceptional food quality, maintaining operational efficiency, and fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and culinary excellence. The ideal candidate is an experienced leader who thrives in a high-volume environment, is passionate about developing talent, and is committed to delivering consistently outstanding guest experiences. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Executive Chef in overseeing daily culinary operations
- Lead and supervise kitchen teams during service, ensuring efficient execution and exceptional food quality.
- Ensure all menu items are prepared according to standardized recipes, portion controls, and presentation standards.
- Maintain the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness in compliance with all local and state health regulations.
- Train, mentor, coach, and develop culinary team members while promoting a positive and professional work environment.
- Assist with recruiting, onboarding, scheduling, and performance management of kitchen staff.
- Monitor labor costs and productivity while maintaining operational excellence.
- Assist with inventory management, purchasing, receiving, and food cost controls to maximize profitability.
- Partner with restaurant managers, event managers, and front-of-house leadership to ensure seamless guest experiences.
- Support menu development, seasonal offerings, and special event menus in collaboration with the Executive Chef.
- Ensure proper maintenance and safe operation of all kitchen equipment.
- Lead by example with professionalism, urgency, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Assume leadership of kitchen operations in the Executive Chef's absence. Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive culinary leadership experience in a high-volume restaurant, hotel, resort, or event venue.
- Previous experience as an Executive Sous Chef, Sous Chef, or comparable management role required.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop teams.
- Extensive knowledge of food costing, purchasing, inventory management, labor controls, and kitchen operations.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and kitchen management software.
- Culinary degree a plus; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
- ServSafe Manager Certification or equivalent food safety certification preferred. Schedule
