Job Description

EXECUTIVE SOUS CHEF
Lead. Create. Inspire. Build Something Great. Private Club | Full-Time Leadership Position | $75,000-$85,000 We're not looking for someone who simply knows how to run a kitchen. We're looking for a culinary leader. A chef who understands that great food starts with great people, strong systems, consistency, and a commitment to doing things the right way every day. Our private club is seeking an experienced and driven Executive Sous Chef to join our culinary leadership team. This is an opportunity to work alongside an Executive Chef and help shape the direction, culture, standards, and success of a high-quality private club kitchen. If you are a hands-on leader who takes pride in your food, develops the people around you, understands the business side of the kitchen, and thrives in an environment where no two days are exactly the same, we want to hear from you.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Executive Sous Chef will be a key member of our culinary leadership team, working directly with the Executive Chef to oversee daily kitchen operations and elevate the overall culinary experience for our members and guests. This is a leadership role with real ownership. You will have a major voice in kitchen operations, purchasing, inventory, product quality, staffing, training, execution, and culinary standards. Most importantly, you will help build a kitchen culture where people take pride in what they do, understand the standards, and hold themselves and each other accountable.
A DAY-SHIFT LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITY
One of the biggest advantages of this position is the schedule. This is a primarily day-shift position with very few evening shifts. Because we are a private club, however, weekend and holiday availability is an important part of the role. Our busiest and most exciting days often happen during weekends, holidays, special events, and member functions. We are looking for someone who understands that leadership means being present when the team and operation need you most.
OWN THE KITCHEN BUSINESS
This position goes beyond the sauté station. The Executive Sous Chef will take ownership of the business side of the kitchen, including: Purchasing and vendor relationships Daily ordering and product forecasting Receiving and product quality Inventory management and organization Par levels and product availability Food cost and purchasing controls Product pricing and vendor negotiations Waste reduction and purchasing efficiency Menu execution and consistency You will work closely with the Executive Chef to make sure the kitchen has the right products, at the right quality, at the right cost, at the right time. You'll have the opportunity to work directly with the Executive Chef, influence culinary direction, build systems, develop people, strengthen purchasing and inventory practices, and help create an operation that is better tomorrow than it was today.
