Located in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan since 2004, Leo's has stayed committed to always sourcing fresh ingredients from the finest purveyors and delivering extraordinary experiences to each and every guest. We are searching for a professional Sous Chef to be a strong leader in our kitchen with enthusiasm for food production, following our Executive Chef's specifications and guidelines. This position controls food and labor costs and handles continuous menu development. The successful candidate will employ their culinary and managerial skills in order to play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing our customers' satisfaction. Leo's operates high volume meal periods on the following schedule: Monday - Thursday 11:30a-9p, Friday 11:30a-10p, and Saturday 4:30p-10p. We are open on Sundays for special occasions. The Sous Chef position works a minimum of 50 hours/week and must have full open availability.

- medical, dental and vision Company-paid group life insurance, short term and long-term disability Competitive pay with growth potential opportunities Health Saving Account with wellness incentives 401(k) Plan with company match Employee Assistance Program Employee dining discounts Downtown parking and uniforms provided Several holidays off throughout the year to spend time with family and friends Responsibilities Develops standard recipes and techniques for food preparation and presentation that help to assure consistently high-quality dishes and to minimize food costs; exercises portion control for all items served and assists in establishing menu selling prices Produce high quality plates both design and taste wise Ensure that the kitchen operates in a timely way that meets our quality standards Fill in for the Executive Chef/Executive Sous Chef in planning and directing food preparation when necessary Resourcefully solve any issues that arise and seize control of any problematic situation Manage and train kitchen staff, establish working schedule and assess staff's performance Order supplies to stock inventory appropriately Comply with and enforce sanitation regulations and safety standards Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers Maintains physical presence on line during times of high business volume Skills Proven experience as a Sous Chef Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures Excellent record of kitchen and staff management Accuracy and speed in handling emergency situations and providing solutions Familiar with industry's best practices Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS) Prior SpotOn experience a plus!
