Key Responsibilities:
Preparation of Dough:
Prepare dough for various bread, pizza, and pastry items. Follow recipes and portion control guidelines to ensure consistent quality. Monitor dough consistency, rising, and proofing processes.
Sauce and Dressing Production:
Create a variety of sauces and dressings, including tomato sauce, pesto, vinaigrettes, and more. Maintain precise measurements and consistency in flavor and texture.
Meatball Preparation:
Prepare meatball mixtures with a focus on flavor and texture. Form meatballs to meet portion standards.
Pasta Production:
Prepare al dente pasta, including boiling, cooling, and portioning. Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely pasta availability.
Dessert Preparation:
Assist in the creation of dessert items, such as cakes, pastries, and custards. Pay attention to presentation and ensure that desserts are visually appealing.
Inventory Management:
Assist in the organization and rotation of ingredients and supplies to maintain freshness and reduce waste. Notify the Head Chef or Sous Chef when supplies are running low.
Sanitation and Safety:
Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper handwashing and maintaining a clean work area. Keep equipment and tools clean and in good working order.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with kitchen staff to ensure a smooth and efficient food preparation process. Communicate effectively with the team to coordinate tasks and maintain a positive working environment.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Prep Cook or similar role in a commercial kitchen. Knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary principles. Understanding of various cooking equipment and kitchen tools. Ability to follow recipes and portion control standards. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality. Good communication and teamwork skills. High school diploma or equivalent; culinary school certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks. Lifting, carrying, and moving heavy ingredients and supplies. Use of kitchen equipment and utensils that require manual dexterity.
Working Conditions:
This position is typically daytime, but some flexibility in hours may be required, including weekends and holidays.
