Mainlander is seeking a Chef Mainlander St. Louis, MO Job Details Full-time 23 hours ago Qualifications Guest relations Inventory management Sanitation Cooking Cleaning Crew management Full Job Description Mainlander has been an evolution since we began as a series of pop ups 4 years ago to explore the concept of a modern midwestern supper club with a throwback aesthetic and a unique culinary perspective. As we have settled into our new, larger restaurant in the Central West End in recent months, and opened our bar The Jujube Inn we have decided that we are ready to bring another culinary leader onboard our small crew. This is full time position that will work closely with the Executive Chef/Owner on a daily basis. Responsibilities for this role will include the following:
  • Maintaining a daily prep list and conducting station inspections to ensure proper setup.
  • Ordering product and maintaining inventory as well as purveyor relationships.
  • Managing a cleaning schedule for the kitchen and food storage areas.
  • Assisting in writing monthly menus, and subsequently writing recipes to execute.
  • Possessing the ability to work any station in the kitchen when needed.
  • Possessing strong people skills.
  • Expediting service.

Salary for this position is competitive and negotiable. The person we would like to find is someone with an open mind that is passionate about food, cooking with the seasons, the culinary craft, and leading a kitchen. This person should come to the application process with the following:
  • At least 5 years of experience in from-scratch kitchens.
  • At least 2 years experience in a restaurant leadership position.
  • Experience with Asian ingredients, wok cooking and dim sum fabrication is a huge plus!
  • Possess good technique and the ability work clean and lead by example.
  • The ability to work most nights and weekends.
