Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented Sous Chef to join our onsite catering team and help deliver unforgettable culinary experiences. This role supports the Executive Chef and ensures that all catering events-from intimate gatherings to large-scale functions-are executed with finesse, flavor, and flawless timing. Something Classic has demonstrated these magical experiences at some of Charlotte's grandest events like the openings of Neiman Marcus, Crate & Barrel and Concord Mills Mall to the Opening events for the Democratic National Convention & private entertaining for the Royal Family of Dubai at the World Equestrian Games. We love events both large and small, so don't hesitate to call us for your intimate gatherings, baby showers and corporate lunches. Key Responsibilities Assist with daily pastry production, including scaling recipes, mixing doughs and batters, baking, portioning, and assembling desserts. Support preparation for catering events, restaurant service, and special projects such as tastings, seasonal menu rollouts, and dessert displays. Maintain an organized, clean, and sanitary pastry workspace following company standards and food safety guidelines. Label, date, and store products properly to ensure freshness and rotation. Assist with basic prep tasks such as slicing fruit, making garnishes, whipping creams, and assembling parfaits or plated dessert components. Communicate product shortages, equipment issues, or production needs to the Pastry Chef promptly. Follow established recipes and instructions to ensure consistency across all locations. Support inventory management by reporting low stock and helping with weekly ordering prep.
