Job Description
Position Overview We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and collaborative Sous Chef to join the culinary team at Princeton Terrace Club. The Sous Chef will work closely with the Executive Chef to oversee daily kitchen operations and ensure the preparation of high-quality, flavorful, and well-presented meals for our student members, guests, and club community. Fluency in English and Spanish required. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands on culinary professional who enjoys working in a high volume, hospitality focused environment and takes pride in scratch cooking, consistency, food quality, and developing a strong kitchen team. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Executive Chef with the daily operation and management of the kitchen.
- Prepare and oversee the preparation of breakfast, lunch, dinner, special events, and other club functions.
- Maintain consistently high standards for food quality, flavor, presentation, freshness, and portion control.
- Supervise, train, and support cooks, prep cooks, and other kitchen staff.
- Lead kitchen operations in the Executive Chef's absence.
- Assist with menu planning and contribute creative ideas for seasonal and special-event menus.
- Prepare a diverse range of dishes, including contemporary American cuisine, international flavors, vegetarian and plant forward options, and special dietary meals.
- Ensure recipes, production schedules, and portion standards are followed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen while enforcing proper sanitation and food safety practices.
- Monitor food inventory and assist with ordering, receiving, storage, and proper rotation of ingredients.
- Minimize waste while maintaining appropriate food quality and availability.
- Work collaboratively with club management to provide an exceptional dining experience.
- Assist with catering and special events, including private dinners, receptions, alumni events, and other club functions.
- Help create a positive, professional, respectful, and team oriented kitchen culture.
- Perform other culinary and operational responsibilities as needed. Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional culinary experience, preferably in a high volume restaurant, hotel, club, university, or institutional dining environment.
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef, Lead Cook, or comparable supervisory culinary position preferred.
- Strong knowledge of professional cooking techniques, food preparation, and kitchen organization.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a culinary team.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistency.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment while maintaining composure and professionalism.
- Ability to lift and carry kitchen supplies and stand for extended periods.
- Culinary degree or formal culinary training is preferred but not required.
- Fluency in English and Spanish required.
Pay:
$20.00 - $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 35.0 - 45.0 per weekBenefits:
