In this role, you will be responsible for preparing authentic sushi and other Japanese dishes with precision, creativity, and a commitment to excellence. Your energetic approach will help deliver an exceptional dining experience for our guests, ensuring every plate is crafted with care and adherence to food safety standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity for culinary professionals eager to showcase their skills in a lively, fast-paced environment while contributing to a team that values quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction. Duties Prepare and assemble sushi dishes, including rolling, slicing, and plating with expert knife skills Maintain high standards of food safety, sanitizing procedures, and kitchen cleanliness at all times Operate various kitchen equipment such as rice cookers, sushi rollers, grills, and food prep stations efficiently and safely Assist in menu planning by suggesting new sushi recipes and presentation ideas that align with restaurant standards Handle food production tasks including poaching, braising, grilling, and food handling for high-volume service periods Ensure consistent recipe adherence to maintain quality across all dishes served Support the dietary department by preparing meals that meet specific dietary needs and restrictions Participate in food safety management practices to uphold sanitation protocols and prevent cross-contamination Contribute to team efforts in catering events or special functions requiring sushi or other culinary offerings Experience Proven experience in high-volume restaurant settings as a sushi chef or kitchen staff member Strong background in food preparation techniques such as how to cut fish, sushi nigiri, rolls, poaching, braising, grilling, and general cooking methods Extensive knowledge of food safety sanitizing procedures and food handling regulations Demonstrated proficiency with operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently Experience with menu planning, recipe development, and meal preparation in a fast-paced environment Previous work in dietary aide roles or dietary department experience is a plus Excellent knife skills combined with a passion for culinary arts and innovation
