Antlers Restaurant is seeking an experienced, dependable line cook to join our kitchen team. This position is responsible for preparing and executing menu items accurately, efficiently, and consistently while maintaining Antlers' standards for food quality, presentation, cleanliness, and teamwork. Antlers is an established rustic American steakhouse specializing in Certified Angus Beef® Prime steaks, house-smoked meats, seafood, and traditional steakhouse fare. We value experience, but we value reliability, consistency, pride in workmanship, and a willingness to work as part of a team even more. Responsibilities Prepare and execute menu items according to established recipes, portions, temperatures, and plating standards. Work assigned stations, including grill, sauté, fry, oven, pantry, or prep. Cook steaks and other proteins accurately to the requested temperature. Complete daily prep lists and maintain adequate station pars throughout service. Inspect ingredients for quality, freshness, and proper rotation. Follow FIFO procedures and properly label, date, store, cool, and reheat food. Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked station. Communicate clearly with chefs, expo, dish staff, and other line cooks. Coordinate timing with the rest of the line so complete orders reach the window together. Respond professionally to modifications, allergies, refires, and special requests. Minimize waste and use ingredients responsibly. Assist with receiving, storage, cleaning, and other kitchen duties as needed. Follow all Antlers recipes, food-safety procedures, and workplace policies. Complete opening, closing, and assigned cleaning responsibilities. Help train less-experienced kitchen employees when requested. Remain calm, focused, and productive during high-volume service. Performance Expectations Successful kitchen employees at Antlers are expected to: Arrive on time, in uniform, and ready to work at the scheduled start time. Produce the same quality and portion every time. Work with urgency without sacrificing accuracy or food safety. Keep their station clean throughout the shift—not just at closing. Accept direction and correction professionally. Communicate problems early instead of waiting until service is affected. Treat coworkers, vendors, and guests with respect. Avoid unnecessary waste, overportioning, and careless handling of equipment. Be willing to assist other stations when their own work is under control. Maintain professional conduct and language in the kitchen. Refrain from using a personal phone while working except during authorized breaks or emergencies. Qualifications Previous line-cook or professional kitchen experience is preferred. Steakhouse, grill, sauté, or high-volume restaurant experience is strongly preferred. Ability to follow recipes, portion standards, and verbal instructions. Working knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper cooking temperatures. Ability to identify common food allergens and prevent cross-contact. Strong knife skills and basic food-preparation knowledge. Dependable transportation and reliable attendance. Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and high-volume event periods. New York food-safety certification is preferred but may be obtained after hiring. Applicants without extensive experience may be considered if they demonstrate reliability, good judgment, and a genuine willingness to learn. Physical Requirements This position regularly requires the employee to: Stand and move throughout shifts that may last eight hours or longer. Work around hot cooking equipment, open flames, steam, sharp tools, and wet surfaces. Lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive kitchen tasks. Safely work in hot, cold, and fast-paced conditions. Communicate effectively in a noisy kitchen environment. Schedule This is a full-time position.
