Summary Our Executive Chef is responsible for overseeing all aspects of food production, staff management, and resident dining satisfaction. The role requires strong leadership, culinary expertise, and the ability to maintain high standards of food quality, safety, and sanitation. This position involves hands-on management, team training, and collaboration to ensure nutritious and appealing meals are provided to residents. The Executive Chef will also be integral to community operations and work on various projects to enhance the overall dining experience. Responsibilities Lead and oversee the culinary team in delivering high-quality meals and exceptional service. Provide hands-on culinary training and mentorship to kitchen staff. Develop, implement, and maintain food production systems, including food cost controls and menu planning. Ensure adherence to safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards in the kitchen. Manage food preparation to ensure consistency, portion control, and food safety. Monitor inventory, food purchasing, and budget adherence. Organize work schedules for kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal production. Participate in resident dining committee meetings to ensure resident satisfaction. Lead culinary initiatives, including "Scratch Made" foods and "Mind Diet" friendly offerings. Address and resolve any complaints related to food service promptly and professionally. Supervise hiring, training, promotions, and disciplinary actions within the culinary team. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, including ServSafe standards. Uphold the community's mission and culture while contributing to various operational projects as needed. Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent required. Culinary Arts Degree or equivalent experience (e.g., 5 years in high-volume cooking or fine dining). Minimum of 2 years of hands-on food preparation and presentation experience, or 5 years in high-volume culinary settings. Experience in supervising culinary staff and working in a collaborative team environment. ServSafe Manager Certification (or provincial equivalent) required, or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire. Ability to successfully complete criminal background checks and drug screenings. Skills and Requirements Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Exceptional culinary skills, with expert knowledge in food production, sanitation, food cost control, and presentation. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with residents, staff, and vendors. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and relevant software applications. Excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills. Ability to maintain a positive, respectful, and professional demeanor with residents and coworkers. Ability to handle multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment while maintaining attention to detail. Skilled in managing kitchen staff schedules and ensuring timely food production. Knowledge of dietary needs and preferences for senior citizens, including familiarity with relevant regulations. Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently with minimal supervision. Proven ability to innovate and improve culinary offerings based on resident satisfaction feedback. Why us?We offer:
