THE ROLE
We're looking for a talented Line Chef to join our kitchen team. You'll be responsible for preparing and maintaining mise en place for your assigned station, executing dishes to our standards, and supporting the broader production and packaging needs of the kitchen. Our kitchen produces everything from à la carte service and five-course tasting menus to bulk production for large events—and everything in between. We welcome cooks with experience in restaurants, catering, commissary kitchens, business & industry (B&I), or retail kitchens. Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is talented, dependable, eager to learn, and excited to grow with Ghost & Grits while upholding the values that define our business.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Demonstrate strong command of classic cooking techniques. Maintain a fully prepped, stocked, clean, and organized station throughout the shift. Execute recipes and preparations consistently, with attention to quality and detail. Demonstrate advanced knife skills and solid ingredient knowledge. Understand and execute assigned ingredients and preparations accurately. Work with a sense of urgency and perform effectively in a fast-paced kitchen. Communicate clearly, listen well, and remain positive and calm under pressure. Follow Department of Health food-safety standards and maintain safe kitchen practices. Promote teamwork, professionalism, and excellence throughout the kitchen. Stay curious and continually refine cooking techniques and knowledge.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
At least 1 year of professional cooking experience; upscale/full-service restaurant experience preferred. Culinary degree or certification preferred, but not required. Ability to follow recipes and execute preparations without direct supervision. Strong kitchen etiquette, safety awareness, and attention to detail. Clear and professional communication with colleagues. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including shifts longer than 8 hours. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. intermittently and 35 lbs. regularly. Ability to bend, stoop, push, and perform the physical demands of a professional kitchen. English fluency preferred; additional languages are welcome but not required.

COMPENSATION
