Overview We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food service and a deep appreciation for Japanese cuisine. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards while ensuring exceptional presentation and flavor. This role requires creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Duties Prepare and create a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, and rolls, adhering to traditional techniques and presentation standards. Ensure all ingredients are fresh and properly stored, maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene. Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and ensure timely service during peak hours. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area. Assist in menu planning by suggesting new sushi items or seasonal specials based on ingredient availability. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and food safety practices. Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs for ordering supplies to management. Qualifications Proven experience in food preparation within a restaurant setting, specifically as a Sushi Chef or similar role in the food industry. Proficient knife skills with the ability to prepare various types of fish and vegetables for sushi dishes. Strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine, including traditional cooking methods and presentation styles. Experience working in a fast-paced kitchen environment with the ability to multitask effectively. Familiarity with dietary restrictions and the ability to accommodate special requests from customers. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team-oriented atmosphere.
