The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, particularly in sushi preparation, and possess a keen understanding of food safety and handling practices. This role is essential in delivering high-quality dining experiences to our guests while maintaining the standards of our fine dining establishment. Duties Prepare and present a variety of sushi dishes, ensuring authenticity and quality. Collaborate with the kitchen team to plan and develop innovative menu items that highlight seasonal ingredients. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station, adhering to food safety regulations. Perform food preparation tasks, including slicing fish and preparing rice, while demonstrating exceptional knife skills. Assist in catering events by preparing sushi platters and providing excellent food service. Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs for ordering supplies. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on sushi techniques and best practices. Qualifications Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar culinary role within the food industry. Strong culinary skills with a focus on fine dining experience and menu planning. Knowledge of dietary department practices and experience as a dietary aide is a plus. Familiarity with food handling regulations and safety standards. Excellent knife skills with an emphasis on precision in meal preparation. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining high-quality standards. Previous restaurant or catering experience is preferred, showcasing versatility in cooking styles.
