POSITION
Solitude is on the search for an experienced sous chef to join our talented team. The Sous Chef is responsible for daily kitchen management, team leadership, food quality, food safety & sanitation, and operational execution in a fast-paced, high volume mountain resort environment. The ideal can didate is a hands-on leader who thrives in season resort operations and is passionate about delivering a memorable guest experience.
SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS
3-5 y ears of experience working as a Line Cook and/or Prep Cook preferred 1+ years of experience working as a Sous Chef or Kitchen Manager preferred Formal Culinary Training/Degree preferred Ability to remain calm, focused and efficient in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication skills and ability to work with all FOH/BOH staff Solid knowledge of culinary fundamentals, food safety and kitchen operations. Ability to take orders and work in a high-pressure, fast-moving environment Capable of standing for extended periods of time and lift up to 30 lbs. Willing to work flexible work schedules including weekends and holidays ServSafe Certification, or ability to obtain
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in planning, executing, and maintaining high-quality, consistent food offerings Execute menus efficiently during peak service periods Support menu development, specials and seasonal offerings in collaboration with Chef Supervise and lead kitchen staff, including cooks, prep staff and dish team Train new hires on food production, recipes, food safety & sanitation standards, and kitchen procedures Lead by example with a positive, professional, and solution-oriented attitude Ensure compliance with all health department regulations, food safety standards and resort policies Maintain a clean, organized, positive and efficient kitchen environment Assist with ordering, receiving, inventory, and proper storage of food and supplies Monitors and enforces all stations, walk-ins and storage areas for proper labeling and rotation of product Basic understanding of food cost control methods Participate and support the Chef with scheduling and labor management
