Event-based hours, with potential for additional hours as the business grows About C'est Si Bon C'est Si Bon is a maximalist event venue in Port Angeles specializing in weddings, private parties, afternoon teas, celebrations, corporate events, and other memorable gatherings. Our food is creative, beautifully presented, and designed to complement the experience of the event.



We are looking for a Sous Chef who is organized, collaborative, hands-on, and excited to cook food that is as fun as the venue itself. Position Summary The Sous Chef works closely with the Executive Chef Alek to execute menus for private events, catered functions, and special experiences at C'est Si Bon. This is a hands-on kitchen position responsible for food preparation, cooking, plating, kitchen organization, and supporting the kitchen team during service. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a professional kitchen, can stay calm when things get busy, and takes pride in consistency, cleanliness, presentation, and teamwork. This position is particularly well suited to someone who enjoys variety . Our menus change frequently and may include everything from elegant afternoon tea and sophisticated wedding food to playful themed menus and creative small plates. ResponsibilitiesFood Preparation & Cooking Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, specifications, and quality standards. Assist the Executive Chef with prep lists, production schedules, and event preparation. Prepare sauces, proteins, vegetables, salads, breads, desserts, and other menu components as assigned. Assist with baking and dessert production when needed. Maintain consistency in flavor, portion size, temperature, and presentation. Assist with plating and presentation for events and catered functions. Help develop and test new menu items and recipes. Event Execution Work efficiently during event setup, service, and breakdown. Coordinate with the Executive Chef and kitchen team to ensure food is ready on schedule. Communicate effectively with servers, event staff, and management during service. Maintain quality and composure during high-volume or time-sensitive services. Help adjust production as guest counts, timing, or event needs change. Kitchen Operations Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout the shift. Follow food-safety, sanitation, and temperature-control procedures. Properly label, date, store, and rotate food. Monitor food quality and report shortages, spoilage, equipment problems, or other concerns. Assist with shopping, receiving and storing food deliveries. Minimize food waste through thoughtful preparation and proper storage. Help maintain kitchen equipment and report maintenance needs. Team Leadership The Sous Chef and Executive Chef will provide mutual backup coverage, remaining available to step in when reasonably possible if the other is unexpectedly unable to work due to illness or an emergency. When the Executive Chef is off, the Sous Chef takes the lead in the kitchen, acting as the chef in charge and overseeing kitchen operations, food preparation, and service. This includes directing kitchen staff, managing the day's production, and ensuring C'est Si Bon's food and service standards are maintained. Support and provide direction to line cooks, dishwashers, and other kitchen staff when the Executive Chef is not immediately available. Lead by example with a positive, professional attitude. Our team thrives in a respectful and direct manner. Help train team members on recipes, preparation techniques, sanitation, and kitchen procedures. Foster a respectful, cooperative kitchen environment.

Qualifications Required:

Professional kitchen experience. Strong knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food safety. Ability to follow recipes and production instructions accurately. Ability to work efficiently and stay organized in a busy kitchen. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Reliable transportation and dependable attendance. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to approximately 50 pounds. Have a Food-handler certification. Have a Food Protection Manager Certification or ability to pass the Food Protection Manager Certification within 2 weeks of hire.

Preferred:

Previous Sous Chef or Lead Cook experience. Experience with catering, weddings, banquets, or event production. Experience with high-volume or plated service. Baking or pastry experience. The Right Person for C'est Si Bon We are looking for someone who: Takes genuine pride in their food and their workspace. Is dependable and prepared. Can work independently but also enjoys being part of a team. Can handle their behavior calmly. Is willing to jump in wherever needed rather than saying, "That's not my job." Enjoys creative menus and isn't afraid to have fun with food. Has an eye for presentation and understands that our food is part of the overall guest experience. Schedule & Hours This is a flexible, event-based position with variable hours , rather than a traditional full-time position. Hours will vary based on private events, weddings, catered events, and other venue activities. There are no guaranteed weekly hours. Weekend and evening availability is important because many of our events take place during those times. We will work to schedule the team around other employment and personal commitments whenever possible, with clear communication of your availability. This position is particularly well suited to someone who wants supplemental or occasional work, including someone who is retired, works part-time, or simply wants to pick up additional hours. Employees with multiple skills and the ability to support both serving and bartending may have opportunities for additional hours as event needs arise. Hours may increase as our event calendar grows. Compensation Hourly pay is $22

•25 per hour depending on experience. Eligible for applicable tipouts from servers and private events. Food is frequently available for staff to enjoy after events, when available.

Sick leave:
