Job Description
MangoMana is looking for an Assistant Chef to become the right hand of our Head Chef — and the person we can count on to lead the line when she's not around. This is a hands-on prep and service role in an open, Subway-style kitchen where you'll be working in full view of our guests. If you take pride in your craft, enjoy talking with customers, and want to grow under someone who's spent 30+ years mastering this work, we'd love to meet you. You'll start by supporting our Head Chef, in daily prep and service. Over time — and this is the important part — we're counting on you to confidently run the station and keep everything moving smoothly on the days Head Chef is off. That means we're looking for someone dependable, coachable, and ready to grow into real responsibility. Why you'll like working here Because our concept has no cooktops and no traditional kitchen hoods, you get the best parts of kitchen work without the worst. No standing over a hot range, no sweltering heat, no grease-soaked hood environment — just clean, comfortable, quality-focused prep. It's a demanding-in-the-right-ways role: precision, consistency, and pride in what you serve, in a setting that stays cool and presentable all day long. You'll also learn directly from a Head Chef with over three decades of experience. If you come in with an open mind and a positive attitude, you'll walk away a far stronger cook than when you started. What you'll do Work alongside the Head Chef on daily prep, assembly, and service in our open kitchen Step in and lead the station with confidence when the Head Chef is away Engage warmly with guests — you're front and center, so a friendly, professional presence matters Follow recipes, portioning, and quality standards precisely and consistently Keep your station clean, organized, stocked, and food-safe throughout the day Learn continuously and apply feedback from the Head Chef What we're looking for A positive attitude and genuine eagerness to learn — this matters more to us than a long resume Comfort being customer-facing; you're happy to chat, smile, and represent MangoMana while you work Reliability and the maturity to take charge when you're the one in the room Some kitchen, prep, or food-service experience preferred, but we'll train the right person Ability to work a full-time schedule that includes weekends Food Handler's card (or willingness to obtain one before starting) Attention to cleanliness, consistency, and detail How to apply Send your resume and a quick note about why this role appeals to you to team@mangomana.com . Tell us a little about yourself — we read every application. We can't wait to hear from you.
